By continuing beyond the introductory lesson, the student agrees to the following:

Tuition

  • Term Structure: Monthly tuition is based on an 18-week semester. This structure includes two additional weeks designed to accommodate potential make-up opportunities.
  • Investment in Progress: Tuition secures a student’s dedicated place in the studio schedule. Payments are due monthly by the 1st of each month or semesterly at least 24 hours prior to the first session.
  • Enrichment Lessons: Should all scheduled sessions be completed without the need for make-ups, additional enrichment lessons may be purchased at the current studio rate.
  • New Students: For those beginning their musical development mid-semester, tuition is conveniently prorated based on the remaining weeks in the term.
  • Summer Enrollment: To maintain a reserved time slot for the upcoming fall, a minimum of six lessons is requested during July and August, paid at the hourly rate on a monthly basis.

Attendance

  • Tuition secures a specific weekly time slot in the studio schedule; please attend promptly.
  • Notify the teacher 15 minutes ahead if running late; lessons cannot be extended beyond the scheduled time.
  • Please contact the teacher 24 hours in advance for absences due to illness or emergencies.
  • One week's notice is requested for planned absences.
  • Summer enrollment requires a minimum of six lessons to maintain a reserved time slot.

Make-up Lessons

  • Excused make-ups are offered with proper notice (maximum two per term; one for mid-semester starts)
  • Virtual Pivot: If in-person attendance is not possible due to illness or conflict, the lesson will be held online at the regularly scheduled time.
  • For the safety and support of students under 18, a parent or guardian must be present or within hearing distance during online sessions.
  • Make-up lessons hold no monetary value and are not refundable.
  • Teacher-initiated cancellations will be rescheduled or credited.
  • Students must commit to one regular lesson time. Multiple timeslots are not possible.

Calendar

A studio calendar is provided each term with holiday lesson cancellations and recital dates.

Discontinuance of Lessons

Lessons may be discontinued at the semester’s end or with two weeks’ notice during summer.

Student Expectations

  • Minimum weekly practice guidelines for optimal progress are: beginners 3+ hours, intemediate 5+ hours, advanced 7+ hours. Please note that some students may require more than this.
  • Students should arrive prepared with all necessary music and materials.
  • Students are expected to engage with the technical and literacy standards of the studio curriculum.
  • Participation in recitals is a core component of the studio curriculum. Students must attend at least one recital per year if full participation is overwhelming, but this alternative is not intended to be a solution for lack of preparedness.

Practice and Parent Support

  • The teacher provides weekly guidance; students are responsible for daily engagement with their assignments.
  • Parents are encouraged to provide a regular practice time, monitor assignments, and offer support.

These policies are established to support an environment conducive to musical development and studio organization.

Safety & Studio Agreement

At Krell Music Studio, I am committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for all students. By enrolling in lessons, families acknowledge that the studio is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or technical interruptions during private or online sessions. Students and guardians are responsible for their home environment and equipment during virtual lessons. Participation in all studio events, including recitals and examinations, is at the student’s own risk. Thank you for partnering with me to keep our musical community safe.
