What To Expect

I teach students of all ages and specialize in ages 6-18. All that is required is both the willingness and the time to devote oneself to methodical practice. This ensures that one's efforts will be productive.

Beginner lessons generally begin at 30 minutes long. This generally requires an extension to 45 minutes between 1-1.5 years into lessons. Once a student hits the intermediate stage (though sometimes sooner with string students), it takes an hour to study all of the required repertoire.

I encourage my beginner students to practice a minimum of three hours per week. The amount grows from there based on the level of the student. Advanced students need to practice a minimum of 7 hours per week. I highly recommend the Musicnotes article on my resources link for more information on practicing for an instrument.

Each of the two schoolyear terms contain 18 weeks of lessons. I offer the opportunity to be involved in recitals with the PMTA. Piano students are also able to participate in the National Guild of Piano Teachers exams in the spring.
